Driven by a mission to protect and regenerate the world’s coral reefs, Coral Gardeners combines science, innovation, and hands-on restoration to create a lasting positive impact on the coral reef ecosystem
WHY CORAL REEFS MATTER
Coral reefs
are the rainforests of the sea
They are the most biodiverse ecosystem on earth and are home to more than 25% of marine life. Coral reefs are often called the “rainforests of the sea” because they support an incredible variety of marine life. They are essential to the health of our oceans and the well-being of millions of people.
They protect coastlines
Coral reefs act as natural barriers between the open ocean and the land. They grow in shallow tropical waters, often close to coastlines, where they help reduce the force of incoming waves before those waves reach beaches, coastal villages and towns.
Corals are going extinct with nearly half already lost.
We have until 20250 to take action and safe what remains of this vital eco system.
Without urgent conservation efforts, many coral species could face extinction, putting entire marine ecosystems at risk.
