From our experienced instructors to the team behind the scenes, we’re dedicated to creating a fun, safe and supportive environment where every swimmer can learn, grow and enjoy the water.
Gilian
Managing director and teacher
Gillian is the founder of Waves Swim and a natural-born teacher with a passion for helping people of all ages feel confident and comfortable in the water.
With decades of experience, particularly supporting children with SEN and those who may feel anxious around water, Gillian has a unique ability to connect with every swimmer. Even the most challenging or reluctant child is encouraged to follow her lead, build confidence, develop their swimming skills, and most importantly, learn to love the water.
Gillian also leads the Waves Swim teaching team, personally training and mentoring all of the school’s teachers in her unique methods and techniques. This ensures a consistent, supportive and exceptionally high standard of teaching across the school, so every swimmer receives the same care, expertise and encouragement that Waves Swim is known for.
Kayleah
Swimming teacher
Kayleah has been a vital part of our swim school from the very beginning. As the Founder’s niece, she has naturally inherited the same passion for teaching, along with a fun, encouraging and persuasive personality that brings out the best in every swimmer.
Kayleah has a particular passion for supporting children with special needs and those who may feel anxious or nervous around water. She has a unique ability to connect with each child, helping even the most energetic, challenging or reluctant swimmers feel comfortable and engaged.
With her patience, enthusiasm and natural ability to build trust, Kayleah encourages every swimmer to follow her lead, grow in confidence, develop their swimming skills and, most importantly, learn to love the water.
Tracy
Swimming teacher
With over 10 years of experience as a swimming teacher, Tracey brings a wealth of knowledge, patience and understanding to every lesson. She has a calm, friendly and approachable manner.
Tracey believes that children learn best when they feel happy, supported and secure. She creates a fun, positive and well-structured environment where children can enjoy their lessons and build confidence in the water.
Tracey is qualified and experienced in teaching children of all ages and abilities, from complete beginners through to more confident swimmers, as well as beginner adults. Over the years, she has taught a wide range of personalities and learning styles and understands that every swimmer is unique needs a different approach.
Her aim is to help every swimmer become safer, happier and more independent in the water, while progressing at their own pace.
Amelie
Swimming teacher
Amelie is an experienced and highly valued member of our swimming team, who has been teaching with us for many years.
She brings a fun and friendly approach to her lessons while also being firm and clear in her instructions.
Versatile and adaptable, Amelie has experience teaching everyone from SEN children to adults, making her a fantastic teacher for swimmers of all ages and abilities.
Chloe
Swimming teacher
Chloe is a lovely swimming teacher with a calm, gentle and encouraging approach. She has a real passion for teaching and takes great joy in watching her students grow in confidence, develop their skills and achieve their goals.
Chloe is also qualified to teach children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ensuring every child feels supported, comfortable and able to enjoy their swimming journey.
Karen
Swimming teacher
Karen is an enthusiastic and versatile teacher who is a valued member of our team.
With experience teaching learners of all ages and abilities, she brings patience, creativity and a friendly approach to every lesson.
Karen has particular experience working with adults, babies and children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), making her a flexible and supportive teacher for a wide range of learners.
Mia
Swimming teacher
Mia is one of the newest teachers at our swim school and teaches at our pool in Sutton.
She loves working with children and brings a creative and enthusiastic approach to every lesson.
With Mia, every session is fun, engaging, and focused on progress. She loves seeing her swimmers grow in confidence and develop their skills in the water.
Megan
Swimming teacher
Megan is a fun, enthusiastic and highly versatile swimming teacher with a background as a professional swimmer. Her experience and passion for the water allow her to work with swimmers of all ages and abilities.
She can help advanced young swimmers refine their technique and reach their full potential, while also supporting adults to build confidence and move more naturally and efficiently in the water.
Megan has a particularly warm and patient approach with children who experience anxiety or have additional needs, helping them feel safe, comfortable and confident in the pool.
Maya
Admin & customer service
While the rest of the team may be in the water, Maya is the one behind the scenes who likes to stay dry and makes sure everything runs smoothly.
As our admin and customer service lead, Maya is the friendly face behind the emails and messages you receive. From scheduling lessons and payments to answering your questions and making sure your needs are met, she keeps everything organised and ensures your experience with us is as smooth as possible.
